KWATTA was a Surinamese plantation in the Beneden-para region.
In 1863, the year of emancipation, 33 enslaved people were registered at KWATTA. This made it the #169 largest plantation in Suriname (top 66%). Their descendants — who in 1863 received a family name for the first time — are spread across the Caribbean and the global diaspora today.
